Understanding Your AI Adoption Readiness Score

Looking for a readiness score? This quiz translates your answers into an adoption stage, with observations and a next step. The result is a starting point for planning, rather than a percentage or an industry benchmark.

How Your Stage Is Determined

Current Adoption
Several live tools lead to Scaling. One live tool or an active test or project leads to Implementation. These signals take priority over the planning scores.
Readiness Signals
Budget, data, leadership, and timing each contribute 0–2 points. Without an active project or live tool, a total of 5 or more leads to Readiness.
Strategy Foundations
Otherwise, 2 or more readiness points, or 2 of 3 foundation signals (AI experience, a plan under discussion or written down, and a stated reason for adoption), lead to Strategy. Remaining answers lead to Exploring.

Your stated blocker informs the next-step observations. A high training need is also flagged for Implementation and Scaling. This self-reported diagnosis does not verify technical feasibility or guarantee project success.

How to Improve AI Adoption Readiness

Improving AI adoption readiness starts with a specific business decision: where could AI help your team do useful work, and what needs to be in place to make that happen? An assessment gives you a starting point. The next step is to turn the findings into a manageable initiative with clear ownership, suitable data, and a way to judge the outcome.

Start With a Workflow and a Measurable Goal

Choose a recurring task that your team understands well, such as classifying support requests or extracting information from supplier invoices. Describe how the task works today, where people lose time, and what an acceptable result would look like. Record a baseline for turnaround time, accuracy, or review effort so you can compare a pilot with the existing process. Give one person responsibility for the decision to continue, adjust, or stop the initiative.

Close the Gaps That Affect Your First Use Case

Use the AI adoption readiness framework to focus the discussion on the conditions your chosen workflow needs. If data is the main gap, check whether the relevant records are accessible, consistent, and appropriate for the intended use. If leadership support or budget is missing, agree on a sponsor and a bounded investment before selecting tools. Bring the people who perform the task into planning, and decide how they will review outputs, handle exceptions, and get help when something goes wrong.

Build Evidence Before Expanding Adoption

A pilot gives you a chance to test assumptions with a limited scope. Review its results alongside the time spent checking outputs, correcting errors, and training the team. Document which parts of the workflow can be repeated and which still need human judgment. Before expanding to another team, revisit data access, ownership, support, and success measures for that setting. Several live AI tools indicate adoption activity, but each workflow still needs its own review of quality and business value.

Return to your AI adoption readiness assessment when your resources, priorities, or use of AI changes. Use the stage and observations to guide the next conversation, and use evidence from your own workflows to decide what to do next. If those decisions need a deeper review, AI adoption readiness consulting can help connect the findings to a practical roadmap.
